There’s no profound reason to relate bees and knees. It is the jaunty-sounding rhyme which sparked off in the 1920’s where nonsense terms to denote excellence came into fashion – the cat’s whiskers being another example to have stood the test of time. Although the US came up with the expression ofbee’s knees, it was the Brits who revived it in the 70’s and 80’s along with our own dog’s bollocks.
